Luca Junior Colangeli
Jelu is a Junior Enterprise in its own right, therefore, a non-profit university association with the aim of reducing the gap between what students learn during their university career in theory and what the world of work requires in practice.
Because a Junior Enterprise allows students who are particularly ambitious and want to get involved, to discover how what they study is actually applied, to immerse themselves in a “ learning by doing ”, a practice ground to develop great skills and personal characteristics such as project management, public speaking, teamwork. We then talk about concepts such as creativity, entrepreneurship, discipline and the modus vivendi of a company, such as the importance of respecting deadlines.
It means starting a journey that makes us grow a lot both on a human and professional level. Learning to relate to people, to other associates and feeling satisfied with a job completed with grit and determination.
Furthermore, students who have taken part in the JE within the company where they work show a better ability to innovate than the average student and show a propensity to start their own business.
Once you enter, following the recruitment process and then the interviews, there will be a trial period during which you will be assigned jobs to do in line with the chosen area and you will be evaluated on how much you are able to do, obviously leaving you the necessary space to ask for help and learn.
There are three interviews: group, individual/motivational and technical.
The group interview It involves solving a hypothetical case, during which we will evaluate your teamwork, communication and persuasive skills.
During the interview individual you will tell us about the reasons why you would like to be part of JELU, your educational background, your extracurricular experiences and your skills, in order to deepen the evaluation
The interview technical will focus on the evaluation of basic skills related to the area of interest
For this reason, you should not study, but review those notions related to the chosen field, which you should already possess.
You are not paid monetarily because junior consultants operate with voluntary associate status, but are offered on-the-job training and extra-university training through our partners and advisors.
Surely before conducting the interviews you will be able to document yourself to understand which would be the area or areas of greatest interest.
Furthermore, you will be able to choose to take interviews for more areas and we will ourselves, in the individual interview, indicate which area could be the most suitable for you.
Of course!
To tell you one, the latest partnership we have formed is with ‘ASSOCONSULT’, the trade association that brings together the most important consultancy companies.
Yes, in the summer you work but the workload is much lighter, the deadlines are longer, so you have the possibility to organize your holidays without any problems.
Assigned jobs do not have a fixed duration, they can last a few weeks, as well as one or two months. So, it is not a question of full-time or part-time work, it simply depends very much on what and when you have to work according to the demands.
You just have to be organised, you have to be good at organising your time for the study and Jelu. If one really believes in the goal to be achieved, one succeeds.
The association consists of a board of directors, the areas with their respective managers, senior and trainee members.
The trial period lasts 2 - 3 months maximum.
But everyone is always put to the test. This means that commitment is not to be employed according to one's status within the JE, but always, even when one becomes a senior.
Work is done in teams.
A project manager is appointed by the manager who manages the order and assigns each person a particular task to perform, and then compares the result and evaluates everyone's work.
The client is presented, the specific case to be worked on is presented, an action plan is built together and the project manager sets the deadlines to be met.
The position may last until the end of the master's degree course.
No, it is not included in that type of activity
Obviously there is rotation and the opportunity to work with other associates, even those we know less, so that we learn to work on different fronts and with people with whom we are unfamiliar, because that is how it works in the business world!
Of course, it is clear that in some cases his knowledge may be less than that of a candidate in later years, but this is not necessarily so, also because, before entering, it is normal for everyone to be ‘unprepared’ for what he is going to do.
Once inside, the probationary associate will be able to learn as well as everyone else and put into practice what he or she studies, thus finding himself or herself at an advantage over his or her colleagues.
In any case, do not be afraid, trying it out is an opportunity not to be missed because it will allow you to understand what it means to be interviewed!
They take place in autumn and spring
Of course yes!
CV and optional motivational letter
Within two weeks, the three interviews should be held
For the group interview within a few hours, for the motivational and technical one you have to wait a few days
The change of office, within the same area, from senior associate to area manager varies according to the number of years spent within the association, experience, and how many jobs have been performed.
As far as the change between areas is concerned, it is not a simple and immediate change, it takes place following a discussion with the area manager, to whom it will be necessary to explain the reasons for the change and, if necessary, to make the change.
The members of the Board of Directors are chosen based on criteria of particular merit, constant and long-lasting commitment, notable experience, knowledge of the Italian Junior Enterprise network, participation in annual events and constant presence.
Yes, there is an “ advisory board” , therefore a group of professors, undergraduate and graduate students who support these activities. They are active for any type of doubt or help.
It is part of an active network in Italy and Europe, JADE, consisting of over 300 associations, with almost 40,000 students worldwide.
There are national events, usually held in October and May, where an association takes charge of organising this event lasting about three days, to network, to organise workshops, to build and strengthen links between JEs. It's as if we were one big Italian and European association. We move in the same way, carrying out similar projects and the exchange of knowledge and objectives is fundamental.
